<h1>Citizens from 10 countries including Pakistan, China, Iran need Reserve Bank permission for India property under FEMA Regulation 7</h1> Regulation 7 of FEMA prohibits citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, China, Iran, Nepal, Bhutan, Macau, and Hong Kong from acquiring or transferring immovable property in India without prior Reserve Bank permission. The prohibition excludes leases not exceeding five years. The regulation was amended in 2015 to include Macau and Hong Kong in the restricted countries list, expanding the scope of the original provision which covered eight countries.
