of <h1>Mahavir Heart Research Project in Mumbai Gains Section 35AC Tax Benefits, Extended for Three More Years</h1> The Central Government has designated the project by Mahavir Heart Research Foundation in Mumbai as eligible under Section 35AC of the Income-tax Act, 1961. This project involves detection, prevention research and education, diagnosis, curing, and operation for heart patients, and maintaining of Atithi Griha. Initially approved for three years starting from the 1997-98 assessment year, it was extended for another three years from 2000-2001. Following a recommendation by the National Committee, the project is further extended for three years from the 2003-2004 assessment year, with an estimated cost of INR 3,15,85,000.
