India Amends Onion Export Rules: STEs Can Issue NOCs at 1% Service Charge, Original Conditions Largely Unchanged.
The Government of India has amended Notification No. 27(RE-2008)/2004-09 concerning the export of onions. Effective immediately, the amendment replaces Para 3(ii) of the original notification, allowing designated State Trading Enterprises (STEs) to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to associate shippers. The service charges for issuing NOCs will be uniformly set at 1% of the invoice value of onion exports. All other conditions of the original notification remain unchanged. This amendment is issued in the public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
