India Updates Rice Export Policy: Certificate of Inspection Now Needed for EU, EFTA Countries Starting January 2022.
The Central Government has amended the export policy conditions for rice, both Basmati and Non-Basmati, under the ITC(HS) Export Policy, 2018. The amendment mandates that exports to EU member states and certain European countries, including Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland, require a Certificate of Inspection from the Export Inspection Council or Export Inspection Agency. This requirement will extend to all other European countries starting January 1, 2022. The changes modify the earlier Notification No. 51/2015-2020, dated December 29, 2020.
