India Sets 4 Lakh Metric Ton Urad Bean Import Quota for 2021-22; Only Millers and Refiners Eligible.

The Central Government has announced a quota of 4 lakh metric tons for the import of Urad beans (Vigna Mungo) for the fiscal year 2021-22, valid until March 31, 2022. This decision, under the Foreign Trade Policy and the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, specifies that imports are restricted and will be permitted only to millers and refiners. The distribution will be based on the quantity applied for or equally shared, whichever is lower. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade will provide specific procedures for this import allocation.
