Para 4, National Savings Scheme Rules: separate yearly account, joint options, and guardian operation for minor deposits
Para 4 of the National Savings Scheme Rules, 1992 mandates that every depositor must open a separate account in a post office for each year. For individual depositors, an account may be opened by a single adult or jointly by two adults. In joint accounts, the amount due may be made payable either to both account holders jointly or to the survivor, or to either of them or the survivor, as specified. Additionally, a guardian is permitted to open and operate an account on behalf of a minor.
