Assurance benefit claims preserve benefits applicable when eligibility arose, including claims filed after a member's death.

Assurance benefit claims under the Employees' Deposit-Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976 are governed by the benefits applicable on the date entitlement arose. Where a member of the Employees' Provident Funds Scheme, 1952 died before commencement of the new scheme but the claim is received later, entitlement is determined under the scheme applicable on the date of death and paid from the Insurance Fund, unless otherwise specified by the Central Government.
