Supreme Court Appeals from High Courts Limited to Substantial Questions of Law Under Amended Article 133
The 30th Amendment to the Constitution (1972) modified Article 133 regarding appeals to the Supreme Court from High Court civil proceedings. Under the amended provision, such appeals are permissible only if the High Court certifies that the case involves a substantial question of law of general importance that requires Supreme Court determination. This amendment replaced the previous clause (1) of Article 133 and came into effect on February 27, 1973.
