It serves to amend the Indian Constitution further. The Act is officially titled the Constitution (Thirtieth Amendment) Act, 1972, and its commencement date is determined by the Central Government through a notification in the Official Gazette. The Act came into effect on February 27, 1973, as announced in the Gazette notification G.S.R. 73(E).
