of <h1>Finance Act 1976: Customs Tariff Act Amended with New Duty Rates on Steel, Chemicals, and Groundnuts.</h1> The Third Schedule of the Finance Act, 1976, amends the Customs Tariff Act by modifying duty rates for various headings. In Part I, several headings are adjusted to a duty rate of '100% plus Rs. 20 per kilogram' or simply '100%.' Part II introduces a new sub-heading for Caprolactam and Dimethyl terephthalate with a duty rate of 150% and revises the heading for alloy and high carbon steel with specific rates. Part III changes the duty rate for a specified heading to 'Rs. 300 per quintal.' Part IV adds a new heading for groundnuts, setting duties at Rs. 800 per tonne for kernels and Rs. 600 per tonne for those in shell.
