The Act is titled accordingly and comes into force on dates notified by the Central Government, allowing different commencement dates for various provisions. The Act received presidential assent on August 10, 2016, and was notified to come into effect from November 1, 2016. It aims to enhance regulatory measures to prohibit benami transactions and enforce penalties as prescribed under the amended law.
