Commencement of Benami Transaction Amendment: the Act's provisions come into force, fixing the operative date and enabling enforcement. The Central Government, under the power conferred by sub section (2) of section 1 of the Benami Transaction (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016, has notified that the provisions of the Amendment Act shall come into force with effect from 1 November 2016, thereby fixing the operative date for implementation and enforcement of the amended statutory regime governing benami transactions.
