of <h1>New Faceless Appeal Scheme 2021 Enhances Transparency in Direct Tax Appeals Under Section 250, Replacing 2020 Scheme</h1> The Faceless Appeal Scheme, 2021, introduced by the Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue, replaces the previous 2020 scheme under the Income-tax Act, 1961. This scheme is enacted under the authority of sub-sections (6B) and (6C) of section 250 of the Act. It aims to streamline the appeals process for direct taxes by eliminating the need for physical interface, thereby enhancing transparency and efficiency. The scheme officially commenced upon its publication in the Official Gazette on December 28, 2021, and applies to all appeals filed thereafter, excluding actions taken under the previous scheme.
