<h1>Indian Baggage Rules: Duty-Free Allowances for Returning Passengers After Extended Stays Abroad Under 1998 Guidelines</h1> The Baggage Rules, 1998, specify duty-free allowances for Indian passengers returning after extended stays abroad. Passengers returning after at least three months can bring used household items valued up to Rs. 12,000 and professional equipment up to Rs. 20,000. Those returning after six months can bring the same household items and professional equipment valued up to Rs. 40,000. Passengers returning after a minimum of 365 days within the last two years, without having previously used this concession in the past three years, can bring used household items and personal effects up to Rs. 75,000.
