of <h1>Rule 9 of Baggage Rules, 1998: Guidelines for Unaccompanied Baggage Timing and Exceptions Explained</h1> Rule 9 of the Baggage Rules, 1998, addresses unaccompanied baggage. It extends the applicability of these rules to unaccompanied baggage unless explicitly excluded. The baggage must have been in the passenger's possession abroad and dispatched within one month of their arrival in India, or within an extended period authorized by customs officials. It can arrive in India up to two months before the passenger or within a year if the passenger's arrival is delayed due to uncontrollable circumstances like illness, natural calamities, or travel disruptions, with reasons duly recorded by customs authorities.
