Time-bound disposal of trade authorisations mandates processing deadlines, counter assistance and grievance redressal to expedite applications. An IEC holder must notify any change in name, address or constitution within a prescribed period, with limited condonation; authorisations must state values in rupees and freely convertible currency and export obligations are discharged in the prescribed currency. Late applications and supplementary claims may be accepted subject to specified cuts. Importers/exporters must furnish information and maintain consumption registers. DGFT provides Export Facilitation Centres, Counter Assistance for frontline scrutiny, a monthly grievance redressal mechanism, and mandates time-bound disposal of applications; DGFT also retains a general power to review subordinate records and pass appropriate orders.
