India Revises Anti-Dumping Duties on PTA Imports from Japan, Malaysia, Spain, and Taiwan; Tribunal Orders Modifications Accepted
The Central Government of India has revised the anti-dumping duty rates on Pure Terephthalic Acid (PTA) imports from Japan, Malaysia, Spain, and Taiwan. The investigation found that PTA from Japan, Malaysia, and Spain was dumped, causing injury to the Indian industry, except for certain exporters. The Customs, Excise and Gold (Control) Appellate Tribunal ordered modifications to the duties, which the designated authority accepted. The new duties are $19.90 per metric tonne for Spain, $7.11 for most Japanese exporters, and nil for Mitsubishi Corporation. The duties are payable in Indian currency, with exchange rates determined by the Customs Act, 1962.
