of <h1>Safeguard Duty Imposed on Acetylene Black: 18% Until Dec 1999, 5% Until Dec 2000; Exemptions Apply</h1> This notification enacts a safeguard duty on Acetylene Black, including conductive carbons, under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The duty is set at 18% (up to Rs. 12,950 per metric tonne) until December 9, 1999, and 5% (up to Rs. 8,830 per metric tonne) from December 10, 1999, to December 9, 2000. Exemptions apply to imports under an Advance Licence and from certain developing countries, excluding China, the Philippines, Singapore, and South Africa. The measure aims to protect domestic producers from increased imports causing serious injury.
