India Imposes Safeguard Duty on Propylene Glycol Imports to Protect Domestic Industry Under Customs Tariff Act, 1975

The notification imposes a safeguard duty on Propylene Glycol imports into India under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, to protect domestic industry from serious injury due to increased imports. Effective from December 24, 1998, the duty is set at 16% until December 23, 1999, and 11% from December 24, 1999, to June 23, 2000. Exemptions apply to imports under an Advance Licence, provided the imported goods are used for export obligations or replenishment and not sold or transferred. The notification excludes imports from developing countries, except Singapore.
