India Extends Pulses Export Ban Until March 2014; Kabuli Chana and Organic Varieties Partially Exempted
The Government of India has extended the prohibition on the export of pulses until March 31, 2014, under the Foreign Trade Policy. This restriction, initially set for six months in 2006, excludes Kabuli Chana and allows the export of up to 10,000 metric tonnes of organic pulses and lentils annually, subject to certification and registration with APEDA. The exports must be conducted from designated Customs EDI Ports. This extension aims to regulate the export of pulses, maintaining the exceptions under specific conditions.
