of <h1>India's Finance Ministry Issues New Customs Notification on Countervailing Duties, Supersedes 1995 Rule.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue, has issued Notification No. 49/2011-Customs (N.T.) dated 20th July 2011. This notification exercises the powers under sub-rule (1) of rule 3 of the Customs Tariff Rules, 1995, regarding countervailing duties on subsidized articles. It supersedes the earlier Notification No. 3/95-Customs (N.T.) from 1st January 1995, except for actions taken before this supersession. A person not below the rank of Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce is appointed as the designated authority for these rules.
