Originally specified in 1995, the project has received multiple extensions, with the latest approval covering the financial years 2010-11 to 2012-13. The project, managed by an organization in Tumkur, Karnataka, will continue without changes to its approved budget of Rs. 2.92 crore. The extension follows recommendations from the National Committee for Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare.
