of <h1>Special Economic Zone for Gems and Jewellery Approved in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra Covering 33.54 Hectares.</h1> The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has approved the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for gems and jewellery at Ulwe Node, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, proposed by a private company. The SEZ covers an area of 33.5403 hectares. An Approval Committee has been constituted, including various government officials and a representative from the developer. The SEZ is effective from September 3, 2009, and is designated as an Inland Container Depot under the Customs Act.
