of <h1>Mid Day Meal Program Extended for 3 Years Under Section 35AC, Funding Increased to Rs. 200 Crore</h1> The Central Government has extended the 'Mid Day Meal Program' run by a foundation in Bangalore as an eligible project under section 35AC of the Income-tax Act, 1961, for an additional three years starting from the financial year 2009-2010. Initially notified in 2003, the project's cost was increased from Rs. 2263.75 lakh to Rs. 100 crore in 2006 and further amended to Rs. 200 crore. The National Committee for the Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare recommended this extension, confirming the project's proper execution and the need for continued support.
