of <h1>Chapter 23 (ITC(HS) 2022) amends export rules to allow certain meat/offal exports for pet food with veterinary certification</h1> The export policy for certain animal by-products under Chapter 23 (ITC(HS) 2022) is amended to add a condition permitting exports of specified meat and offal for pet food only when sourced from registered integrated abattoirs/municipal slaughterhouses that have undergone post-mortem inspection and segregation; a designated state/UT veterinary authority must certify suitability based on inspections by veterinarians registered under the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 employed by the slaughtering unit and supervised by the authority. Specific HS codes for retail dog/cat food and compounded feeds are now subject to this additional condition, aligning the policy with relevant EU regulations.
