Customs Act 1962: Revised Tariff Values Set for Edible Oils, Brass Scrap, Areca Nut, Gold, and Silver from July 16, 2024
The customs authority has amended the tariff values for specified goods including edible oils, brass scrap, areca nut, gold, and silver under the Customs Act, 1962. Revised tariff values are fixed in US dollars per metric tonne or per specified weight units for various categories such as crude palm oil, RBD palm oil, crude soya bean oil, brass scrap, areca nuts, and specified forms of gold and silver. These amendments replace the existing tables in the principal notification dated August 3, 2001. The updated tariff values will take effect from July 16, 2024. The notification aims to regulate import valuation for customs purposes by setting minimum values for these goods to ensure proper assessment of customs duties.
