<h1>India Updates Areca Nut Import Rules: Minimum Price Set, Bhutan Exempted for 17,000 Metric Tonnes Annually.</h1> The Central Government has amended the import policy conditions for areca nuts under ITC HS 08028010 of Chapter 08 in the ITC (HS) 2022, Schedule I. The import of whole areca nuts remains prohibited unless the CIF value is Rs. 351 or above per kilogram. Exceptions to the Minimum Import Price (MIP) conditions apply to 100% Export Oriented Units and SEZ units, provided no Domestic Tariff Area sales occur. Additionally, the import of 17,000 metric tonnes of fresh areca nuts from Bhutan is allowed annually without MIP conditions through LCS Jaigaon and LCS Chamurchi, subject to a valid DGFT registration certificate.
