<h1>Government Appoints Customs and Excise Officers as Adjudicating Authorities for Foreign Exchange Violations under FEMA 1999.</h1> The Central Government, under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999, appoints specific officers as adjudicating authorities to conduct inquiries and adjudicate contraventions related to sections 6(3)(g) and 7(1)(a) of the Act. The Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise is designated for cases involving amounts over Rs. one crore. The Additional Commissioner handles cases involving amounts between Rs. 75 lakhs and Rs. one crore. The Joint Commissioner is responsible for cases involving amounts up to Rs. 75 lakhs. These appointments are specified in Notification No. 20/2000, issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue.
