India Imposes Provisional Anti-Dumping Duty on Lead Acid Batteries from China, Korea, Japan to Protect Local Industry
The Government of India has imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on lead acid batteries imported from China, Korea, and Japan, following preliminary findings that these imports are priced below normal value, causing material injury to the Indian industry. The duty is calculated as the difference between specified amounts and the landed value of the imports per kilogram. The duty applies to industrial and automotive batteries and is effective until October 8, 2001. The landed value includes all customs duties except those under specific sections of the Customs Tariff Act. The applicable exchange rate is determined by the Ministry of Finance notifications.
