Government Amends Export Policy: Non-Medical Masks Made from Cotton, Silk, Wool Now Permitted Under Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020.
The Central Government has amended the export policy for masks under the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020. As per the new notification, the export of non-medical and non-surgical masks made from materials like cotton, silk, wool, and knitted fabrics is now permitted. This modifies the earlier notifications which prohibited the export of all mask types. However, all other types of masks, as specified under various ITC HS codes, remain prohibited for export. This amendment is enacted under the powers conferred by the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992.
