of <h1>India Updates Drone Import Policy: Nano Drones Exempt from DGCA Clearance, DGFT License; Require Telecom Approval Only.</h1> The Government of India has amended Policy Condition No. 3 of Chapter 88 and incorporated it into Chapter 95 of the ITC (HS) 2017, Schedule-I (Import Policy). The import of Unmanned Aircraft Systems, including drones, remains restricted, requiring prior clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and an import license from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). However, Nano category drones, weighing 250 grams or less and operating below 50 feet, require Equipment Type Approval from the Department of Telecommunications and do not need DGCA clearance or a DGFT import license. These changes align with existing guidelines from the DGCA and the Department of Telecommunications.
