Initially specified in 1992 for three years and extended for another three years, the project is now approved for an additional three years starting from the 1999-2000 assessment year. The approved cost has been increased from 118 lakhs to 180.6 lakhs. This decision follows a recommendation from the National Committee, which confirmed the project's proper execution and anticipated continuation beyond six years.
