<h1>Codex Committee Finalizes Standards for Cloves, Oregano, Basil, and Ginger; Begins Work on Cardamom and Turmeric Standards.</h1> The Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH) has finalized quality standards for cloves, oregano, basil, and ginger during its fifth session, held virtually from April 20-29, 2021. These standards are forwarded to the Codex Alimentarius Commission for adoption. The committee also initiated work on standards for small cardamom, turmeric, and a group standard for dried fruits and berries. The session, organized by India, marked the first virtual Codex Commodity Committee meeting, with 275 participants from 65 countries. CCSCH, established in 2013, aims to develop global standards for spices and herbs, promoting consumer protection and fair trade.
