<h1>New Common Facility Centre in Kolkata to Boost Handmade Jewellery Sector for 100,000 Artisans by April 2020.</h1> A Common Facility Centre (CFC) is being established in Bow Bazar, Kolkata, expected to be operational by April 2020, to benefit 100,000 artisans in the handmade jewellery sector. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), aims to enhance productivity and quality by providing access to advanced technology. Similar CFCs in Gujarat have already improved MSME units, making them export-ready. A CFC in Coimbatore is also nearing completion. These centers aim to modernize the industry, boost exports, and support socio-economic transformation by increasing efficiency and output.
