Mumbai, Sep 24 (PTI) The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against a city-based businessman and four others following a complaint alleging forgery, misuse of corporate documents and creation of unauthorized financial liabilities, an official said on Thursday.

The First Information Report was registered against Sudhir Walia and others on September 9 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy, he said.

The other persons or entities named as accused are Khyati Walia, Ramesh Madanlal Jain, Lakshdeep Investments and Finance Private Limited, and Lakshdeep Infrastructure and Holdings Private Limited.

The complaint was lodged by Vijaykumar Mohanlal Parekh, concerning business entities associated with the Parekh and Walia groups including Suraksha Realty Ltd (SRL) and matters related to the corporate insolvency resolution process of Jaypee Infratech Limited (JIL).

The Walia Group, through SRL and Lakshdeep, entered into a consortium agreement in February 2019 to participate in the resolution process of JIL without the knowledge or authorization of the Parekh Group, the complaint alleged.

A resolution plan was subsequently approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Delhi, and later upheld by the NCLAT, allegedly without Parekh Group's consent.

The complainant alleged that a board resolution of SRL was fabricated and never formally approved, yet it was relied upon in proceedings before the Delhi High Court.

Another major allegation involves the transfer of approximately 12.5 crore JIL shares with an aggregate face value of Rs 125 crore in 2024 to an entity controlled by the Walia Group without authorization.

The EOW is investigating the authenticity of the disputed documents, the alleged misuse of digital signatures, and the financial trail behind the transactions, an official said, adding that no arrests have been made so far. PTI ZA KRK
