BRICS members warned against the proliferation of trade-restrictive measures, including indiscriminate tariff hikes, non-tariff barriers and coercive practices that threaten global trade, disrupt supply chains, and risk marginalising the Global South; they urged defence of the multilateral trading system and compliance with WTO rules, called for UN reform and adherence to international law, condemned a recent terrorist attack and reiterated counter-terrorism commitments, pledged support for the incoming BRICS chairmanship and future meetings, and endorsed practical initiatives on cross-border payments, investment, reinsurance and commodity exchange mechanisms while noting recent high tariffs imposed by a major economy.
