BRICS ministers condemn trade-restrictive measures, call to defend multilateral trade, UN reform, and anti-terror cooperation
BRICS foreign ministers condemned the growing use of trade-restrictive measures-including indiscriminate tariff increases and non-tariff barriers-labeling some measures coercive, inconsistent with WTO rules, and likely to fragment global trade and marginalise the Global South. They urged defence of the multilateral trading system, called for UN institutional reform, and pledged cooperative initiatives on investment, cross-border payments, clearing, reinsurance and a grain exchange. The ministers strongly condemned terrorism, affirmed state responsibility to combat it consistent with the UN Charter and relevant international human rights, refugee and humanitarian law, and warned against double standards in counter-terrorism enforcement. They expressed support for the incoming BRICS chairship.
