of <h1>SEBI Updates Demat Account Rules for HUF: New Karta Named After Karta's Death in Corrigendum to Master Circular.</h1> A corrigendum to the Master Circular for Depositories dated February 5, 2021, addresses the procedure for opening a demat account in the event of the death of a Karta in a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF). The deceased Karta's name in the Beneficial Owner account should be replaced by the new Karta, who will be the senior-most family member. Footnote 31 is updated with references to specific SEBI letters. Other provisions of the original circular remain unchanged. Depositories must amend relevant laws, implement system changes, and report implementation status to SEBI. This circular is issued under SEBI's regulatory powers.
