<h1>Amendment to Customs Act: Settlement Commission Applications Allowed Before Adjudication, Subject to Specific Conditions, Section 127B.</h1> Section 127B of the Customs Act was amended effective June 1, 2007. Importers, exporters, or related parties can apply to the Settlement Commission for case settlement before adjudication, provided they disclose their duty liability and other details. Applications must meet conditions: a bill of entry or shipping bill must be filed, a show cause notice issued, the duty accepted must exceed three lakh rupees, and the duty with interest must be paid. Applications are not accepted for cases pending in court, involving goods under section 123, or involving offenses under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
