          <h1>Inland postage rates revised: First Schedule substituted and new weight-based tariffs for letters, cards, newspapers and parcels apply.</h1> Amendment substitutes the First Schedule to the Indian Post Office Act, 1898 to prescribe revised inland postage rates, effective from a date to be notified by the Central Government. The Schedule fixes weight based tariffs and categorical charges for letters, letter cards, post cards (single, reply, printed and competition), book/pattern/sample packets, registered newspapers (including multi copy carriage rules and agent delivery), and parcels, with base rates for initial weight increments and specified incremental charges for additional weight or fractions thereof.
