of <h1>Constitution (49th Amendment) Act Extends Tribal Area Provisions to Tripura Alongside Meghalaya Under Article 244</h1> The Constitution (49th Amendment) Act, 1984 modifies Article 244 of the Constitution by substituting the words 'and Meghalaya' with 'Meghalaya and Tripura' in both clauses (1) and (2). This amendment effectively extends the constitutional provisions applicable to Meghalaya to include Tripura as well. The amendment came into force on April 1, 1985, as notified through S.O. 184(E) dated March 11, 1985.
