of <h1>72nd Amendment Act Guarantees Proportional Reservation for Scheduled Tribes in Tripura's Assembly Under Article 332</h1> The 72nd Amendment Act, 1992 inserts clause (3-B) to Article 332 of the Constitution, ensuring that seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes in Tripura's Legislative Assembly maintain a proportion not less than what existed when the amendment came into force. This reservation formula applies until readjustment based on the first census after 2000 takes effect. The amendment does not affect existing representation until the dissolution of the Legislative Assembly that was in existence when the Act commenced. The amendment came into force on December 5, 1992.
