of <h1>Finance Act 1989 Revises Excise Duty Rates: New Rates for Sugar, Fabrics, Tobacco, and More.</h1> The Fifth Schedule of the Finance Act, 1989, amends the First Schedule to the Additional Duties of Excise Act by revising duty rates for various goods. Changes include substituting entries for specific sub-headings: Rs. 25 per quintal for sub-heading 1701.31, Rs. 45 per quintal for 1701.39, and 10% plus Rs. 2.10 per square meter for sub-headings 5801.30, 5802.14, 5804.12, 5901.20, 5905.20, and 6001.12. Additionally, Rs. 420 per kilogram is set for sub-headings 5902.10 and 5902.20, and Rs. 2.10 per kilogram for 5902.30. New sub-headings include 2404.60 for preparations containing snuff tobacco and 5806.10 for narrow woven fabrics, both with nil duty.
