Competition assessment of legislation: Commission proposes modifications to prevent provisions harming market competition and consumer welfare.

The Guidelines set out a framework for objective and transparent competition assessment of selected economic statutes and bills to identify provisions that may have an appreciable adverse effect on competition. Where concerns arise, the Commission will suggest modifications and provide reasons to the legislature, the piloting Ministry or Department, and the parliamentary or state committee examining the bill, as part of a proactive process to prevent provisions that could impair market competition.
