New e-Appeals Scheme 2023: Personal Hearings Now via Video Conferencing; No In-Person Presence Required for Proceedings.
Under the e-Appeals Scheme, 2023, individuals are not required to appear in person or through a representative for proceedings. However, personal hearings can be requested and will be conducted via video conferencing, as facilitated by the Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (JCIT) (Appeals). The Board is responsible for providing necessary video conferencing facilities to ensure access for all parties involved, preventing denial of participation due to lack of technology. All examinations and statements will also be conducted through video conferencing, following the Board's established procedures.
