of <h1>New CENVAT Credit Rules 2004 Implemented, Replacing 2002 Rules; Excludes Service Tax Credit in Jammu and Kashmir.</h1> The CENVAT Credit Rules, 2004, established by the Central Government under the authority of the Central Excise Act, 1944, and the Finance Act, 1994, replace the previous CENVAT Credit Rules, 2002, and Service Tax Credit Rules, 2002. These rules apply throughout India, excluding provisions related to service tax credit in Jammu and Kashmir. They become effective upon their publication in the Official Gazette.
