The Agreement defines key terms for bilateral tax cooperation, including territorial definitions of India and Jersey and designation of the competent authority for each Party. It defines who constitutes a person, company, publicly traded company, principal class of shares, collective investment fund, and public collective investment fund, and lists recognised stock exchanges while allowing mutual recognition. It defines 'information gathering measures' and 'assistance in collection measures' as laws and procedures enabling information provision and tax claim collection, and defines 'information' broadly. Undefined terms are to have meanings from the domestic law of the applying Party, with tax law meanings prevailing.
