Penalty for rule contravention: company and defaulting officers liable to fines, with daily continuing fines for ongoing breaches. Where the Act provides no punishment, the Companies (Acceptance of Deposits) Rules, 1975 subject a company, every officer in default, or other contravening person to a penalty in the form of a fine and additionally impose a further daily fine for any continuing contravention after the first day, thereby penalising both corporate entities and responsible officers for breaches and providing escalating sanctions for ongoing non compliance.
