Designation of an organisation as an organisation of a political nature, other than a political party, may be made by Gazette order based on its activities, ideology, programme, or association with political-party activities. Prior written notice stating the grounds is required, and the organisation may make a representation within thirty days, subject to delayed consideration for sufficient cause. The representation may be referred for a report. The order must ordinarily be made within one hundred and twenty days of notice, with a further sixty-day period available after recording reasons.
