        <h1>Omission of tariff item for coal derived tar removes scheduled GST classification, altering tax treatment of those distillates.</h1> Tariff item 2706, describing tar distilled from coal, from lignite or from peat and formerly subject to Schedule 1 GST at a reduced rate, was omitted by Notification No. 6/2022 Integrated Tax (Rate) dated 13.7.2022 with effect from 18.7.2022, removing the specific Schedule 1 GST classification for those coal derived tars.
